Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Healing bodywork, especially when received on a regular basis, can significantly reduce stress levels and help you better manage stress, thus contributing to:
- Decreased anxiety.
- Enhanced sleep quality.
- Greater energy.
- Improved concentration.
- Increased circulation.
- Reduced fatigue.
- Lessen depression and anxiety.
- Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
- Helping you to find joy in everyday life.
I practice both Clinical Acupressure and Process Acupressure. Both forms follow similar protocols for treating symptoms by inviting your body to re-balance and re-calibrate its energetic flow and patterning. When receiving Clinical Acupressure, massage may be added to the session when clinically indicated and agreed upon by the client.
Process Acupressure also involves becoming aware, while on the table, of emotions, thoughts, experiences, beliefs and patterns from your life that have found a home in your body. At some point it feels right for us to explore those energies and perhaps shift or release them so that they're no longer disrupting the healthy flow of chi in our body, mind and spirit. Your body will know when that time has come and begin to send signals that we'll notice during the session. Often these patterns of thoughts, beliefs and emotions are holding us back from embodying our true and whole selves. They are usually the result of conditioning during our growing up years, events that we've experienced, trauma, or cumulative day to day stress and lack of self care. How wonderful it is to work with them and release or change them so we can begin to live aligned with our soul purpose and fully inhabit a body able to do that. You may have done or be doing some of this work with a talk therapist and find that adding in the bodywork piece helps you to break through a stubborn issue. It's all energy and it's held in the very cells and tissues of our body. Accessing the issues through the body can be a deeply helpful adjunct treatment to talk therapy.
